Optimist Club donates to healthy children via NUMC Foundation

The Optimist Club of New Ulm members (l to r) Pat Furth, Jim Schmidt, Darlene Schmidt and Phyllis Brandt (far right) presented a check to Carisa Buegler (second on right), New Ulm Medical Center Foundation Executive Director, to support DAAN in all New Ulm schools next school year. DAAN is a school-based nutrition and activity program introducing children to good nutrition and active lifestyles. It is sponsored by the Optimist Club of New Ulm through the New Ulm Medical Center Foundation. The Optimist Club has fully funded the DAAN program for the past two years and will be funding DAAN again in 2009-10. The Optimist Club’s total donation to support DAAN since it began in 2007 has exceeded $40,000.
