’07 Heart Walk in St Michael a success
BUFFALO, Minn. 05/01/2007--More than 100 people turned out Saturday, April 28 at the Cinemagic IMAX Theatre in St. Michael to help stomp out heart disease and stroke by lacing up their shoes and joining Team Allina/Buffalo Hospital in the first Wright County Satellite American Heart Association Walk. The 2007 Twin Cities Heart Walk was held at Harriett Island in St. Paul at the same time. The Wright County Team raised over $5500, with employees, family members and patients from the Buffalo health care campus joining the fight against heart disease including representatives from Buffalo Hospital,
Allina Medical Clinic,
Allina Home Oxygen & Medical Equipment,
Allina Transportation,
Buffalo Clinic and Albertville-St. Michael Clinic.
Participants enjoyed a beautiful day, most walking up to ten laps outside the venue while stopping to enjoy a variety of interactive, heart-healthy exhibits at a health fair that featured the latest on automated external defibrillator use and placement throughout Wright County through Heart Safe Communities, tips on eating smart and exercise made easy through DAAN, heart healthy living information featuring the Women’s Heart Health Program along with free blood pressure checks and complimentary water and snacks donated by Cub Foods in Buffalo.
Proceeds from the walk go to the American Heart Association to advance research on heart disease and stroke, diseases which claim more than 910,000 American lives each year.
