International Art Show by Artists with Disabilities opens April 17 with free public event
MINNEAPOLIS 04/10/2008--
Sister Kenny Rehabilitation Institute's International Art Show by Artists with Disabilities is a 45-year tradition. It is one of only a handful of judged art shows in the country for those with a physical or mental impairment. Proceeds from the show are returned to the artists.
This year's show begins on Thursday, April 17 and runs through Friday, May 16. It includes 300 works of art from six categories: graphic; watercolor; sculpture; photography; mixed media, and oils and acrylics.
Opening night reception
The opening night reception is an opportunity for visitors to meet many of the artists, and view and purchase artwork. The free grand opening event will be held on Thursday, April 17 from 5 to 8 p.m. on the second floor of the Sister Kenny Building of Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
"Sister Kenny Rehabilitation Institute's mission is about helping individuals progress towards their personal best and our art show is an extension of that -- highlighting the abilities of those who experience physical or mental limitations," said Lori Knutson, executive director, Sister Kenny Rehabilitation Institute.
