Owatonna Hospital Auxiliary announces scholarship recipients

OWATONNA, Minn. 05/25/2010--The Owatonna Hospital Auxiliary has recently awarded scholarships totaling $10,000 to 20 local area students who are attending an accredited educational institution in pursuit of a health care-related career.

Recipients of the Don Sanford Nursing Scholarship are: Amy Jensen, Amy Jo Belting, Samantha Anderson, Kristen M. Rieck, Karissa Johnson, Maria Colvin, Courtney Louks, Rebecca Dantzman and Kelli Stockwell. Each recipient receives $500.

Recipients of the Auxiliary Health Related Scholarship are: Sarah Mans, Elissa Schmidt, Amy Chatelaine, Kendra Harriman, Emily Boubin, Joseph Rose, Derek Schelling, Nathan Arnold, Bronson Schelling, Sumayo Mohamood, and Melissa Rosecke. They each receive $500.

This year, there were 34 applicants ranging in age from 17 – 40 and pursuing a degree in nursing, physician assistant, medicine, pharmacy, dentistry, occupational therapy and exercise science. To be eligible for an Owatonna Hospital Auxiliary scholarship, students must show a financial need, pursue a career in health care and live within Steele County.
