2nd Healing Arts Program exhibit kicks off March 23 at Owatonna Hospital, online survey goes live to help guide program

OWATONNA, Minn. 03/16/2010--The Healing Arts Program announces its second installation of its visual arts program series at Owatonna Hospital. The Healing Arts Programs is a collaboration between Owatonna Hospital and the Owatonna Arts Center to bring the visual arts, natural light, images and elements of nature to lessen stress and promote healing while in the Hospital. The new artwork will be on view from March 23 through July.

Computer print artwork.

Computer prints are just one of the many new art pieces on display at Owatonna Hospital as part of its Healing Arts Program. Craig Challgren, an artist/photographer from Morristown, created these abstract color images using the computer.

The community is invited to a special Healing Arts Program reception where you can meet the artists Tuesday, March 23 from 5 – 7 p.m. at the Owatonna Hospital.

The works of Jeanne Larson, mixed media; Richard Graves, watercolor; Andre Plante, carved wood; George Sierakowski, painter; Craig Challgren, computer prints; Mary Ruth, batik; Mike Welton, painter; and Art Ciccotti, glass will be on display. This exhibit is underwritten by the Owatonna Hospital Foundation. The Owatonna Arts Center serves as the curator for this series. Admission to the exhibit and reception are free.

In addition, the Owatonna Hospital invites the community to take a web-based survey to help guide our future art exhibits. Research has shown that the arts help create healing environments, support patient mental and emotional recovery, and foster positive working environments. Residents can complete the survey by selecting the Take the Healing Arts Program Survey link, or on the Owatonna Arts Center website at www.oacarts.org. The survey will be active through April 30. Individual responses to the survey are confidential.

Survey results will be posted on the Owatonna Hospital and Owatonna Arts Center website. For more information, call 507-977-2330.
