Buffalo rodeo fans are definitely Tough Enough to Wear Pink
BUFFALO, Minn 06/26/2007--Hundreds of rodeo fans and breast cancer survivors dressed in pink for the first Twin Cities Tough Enough to Wear Pink event on Thursday, June 21 to raise awareness of breast cancer and watch cowboys and girls compete in pink regalia.
This unique partnership between the Buffalo Hospital Foundation and the Buffalo Championship Rodeo raised over $18,000 to enhance breast health services at Buffalo Hospital.
"We are honored and excited to have this level of support from the community," says Steve Hatkin, Buffalo Hospital president. "The number of people dressed in pink at the event and the support provided by the western community along with people committed to the cause is heart warming. A few teenagers working at rodeo food booths even donated their tips in honor of loved ones who've been touched by cancer."
Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in women, after lung cancer. A woman has a one in eight chance of an invasive breast cancer occurring some time during her life.
