Allina's New Ulm Medical Center orthopedic surgeon begins seeing patients at Winthrop Area Clinic
NEW ULM, Minn. 01/06/2010--The Winthrop Area Clinic, part of New Ulm Medical Center, welcomes Dr. Jean Eelma, MD, orthopedic surgeon at NUMC. She will be seeing patients at the Winthrop Area Clinic every other Tuesday.
She will provide orthopedic specialty care including consults and rechecks for knee and hip injuries and replacements; shoulder injuries and sports injuries for patients of all ages. Dr. Eelma has been with NUMC since May 2006. Prior to joining NUMC, she practiced at Bloomington Hospital, Bloomington, Ind.
Dr. Eelma received her medical education at the University of Minnesota Medical School and completed her residency at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Eelma was the first female orthopedic resident at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Eelma has special interests in arthroscopy, shoulder surgery and joint replacements.
The Winthrop Area Clinic opened in December 2007 as part of NUMC. Three family medicine physicians and one nurse practitioner currently rotate their time to staff the clinic Monday through Friday.
