Allina names Duncan Gallagher new chief financial officer
MINNEAPOLIS 08/21/2009--Allina Hospitals & Clinics has named Duncan P. Gallagher as its new executive vice president and chief financial officer (CFO). Allina CEO and president Ken Paulus made the announcement.
"Duncan brings to Allina Hospitals & Clinics 25 years of health care delivery system leadership," Paulus said. "More than anything, he provides a level of experience and leadership to the chief financial officer position that will be critical at a time when the health care delivery marketplace will be dynamic and challenging."
Most recently, Gallagher was the executive vice president and chief operating and financial officer of Iowa Health System based in Des Moines, Iowa. Gallagher spent ten years in that role overseeing all of the finance functions as well as administrative functions including legal services, human resources, information technology, strategy, supply chain management, and payer contracting.

Prior to his time at Iowa Health System, Duncan was a partner with KPMG Peat Marwick based in Minneapolis, Kansas City, and Dallas. He spent 10 years with KPMG leading client engagements with large hospital systems. Prior to his time with KPMG he was a director of finance at Health East Care System in the late '80s and was a senior auditor with Peat Marwick Mitchell and Company in the early to mid '80s.
Duncan completed his master's degree in business administration from the University of Minnesota in 1989 and completed his bachelor's degree in 1983 from the University of South Dakota.
