Jeffery Dusek is named research director for Institute for Health and Healing
MINNEAPOLIS 12/05/2007-- Abbott Northwestern Hospital has named Jeffery A. Dusek, Ph.D, as the first research director for the Institute for Health and Healing.
The Institute’s team of 45 health care professionals conduct 1,500 inpatient visits a month within Abbott Northwestern and an additional 500 outpatient appointments a month at their clinic located at the corner of Chicago Avenue and 28th Street in Minneapolis. Integrative medicine blends the best of conventional medicine with healing philosophies and a variety of healing therapies.
Dusek comes to the Institute from Boston, where he held several positions within teaching hospitals of Harvard Medical School. He was the associate research director of the Mind/Body Medical Institute, Beth-Israel Deaconess Medical Center and the director of behavioral sciences research, Benson-Henry Institute for Mind Body Medicine, Massachusetts General Hospital.
In those roles at Harvard, Dusek served as the co-principal investigator of a seven-year, $10 million grant funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. He's also been the project director for a $2.4 million multi-center Phase III randomized controlled trial involving 1,802 patients to examine whether an integrative therapy reduced complications after coronary artery bypass grafting surgery.
