New Ulm Medical Center (NUMC) announced their 6th Annual Legends Award winners Wednesday, Nov. 18. Cleo Bolduan, LPN, and Sr. Nola Weiner, PHJC, RN, were named this year's recipients.

Bolduan was a nurse in the Surgery Department for 45 years prior to her retirement in 2007. Her nomination cited Bolduan as legendary in many ways, "Making sure everyone who came to the operating room – whether as a student, a new employee or a new surgeon, felt welcome. She was known for her preparedness, friendly, even-keeled mannerisms and the ability to stay calm under fire."

Weiner, a member of the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ (PHJC), was administrator at Loretto Hospital in the late 1950s through the early 1960s. She was responsible for starting the first hospital auxiliary, the first board of directors and for building the structure that eventually became New Ulm Medical Center. Weiner is 97 years old and now lives at the PHJC's Ancilla Domini Ministry Center in Donaldson, Ind.

The Legends Award recipients will be honored at the annual NUMC Board of Trustees meeting on Dec. 17, 2009.
