Allina's Mercy Hospital offers peripheral artery disease screenings

COON RAPIDS, Minn. 09/01/2010--People who think they may be at risk for peripheral artery disease are invited to screenings at Mercy Hospital on Wednesday, September 22 or Unity Hospital on Thursday, September 30.

Peripheral artery disease, also known as PAD, is a common blood flow problem. PAD symptoms include pain in the legs while walking or frequent leg rubbing to relieve pain.

The PAD screening includes the following:

  • Risk factor questionnaire
  • Ankle-brachial index (ABI) measurement
  • Review of screening results and education
  • Physician referral if necessary

The screening costs $10 and takes about 30 minutes. Please register online at allina.com/classes or call 866-904-9962.
