Buffalo is going pink for Breast Cancer Awareness - Pink Street Party is Tonight
Buffalo, MN 55313 10/01/2009--
The first ever Pink Street Party is tonight in downtown Buffalo - rain or shine! The party starts at 4 p.m., and continues through 9 p.m.
Enjoy music by Outside Recess, shopping deals galore, food vendors and massages. At 8 p.m., gather by the Welcome sign across from Buffalo Lake for the lighting ceremony. More than 200 families and friends of people touched by cancer have sponsored a string of pink LED lights for $50 to shine in their honor for the entire month of October. We will flip the switch and illuminate the city at 8 p.m.
“It is going to be incredibly moving when we throw the switch and thousands of pink lights glow in honor of lives touched by cancer,” says Karla Heeter, Buffalo Hospital Foundation director. “Nearly everyone can think of someone who has been affected by cancer in some way. The Pink Street Party is a powerful event to recognize them.”
Buffalo Hospital Foundation, Sara’s Dance Foundation and Lillians are teaming up to plan the pink event to elevate cancer awareness and improve the quality of life for those diagnosed with cancer. Funds raised from The Pink Street Party will be used to provide free mammograms for uninsured women in our community, to promote breast cancer education and to impact the quality of life for those diagnosed with cancer.
