Learn how to prevent running injuries, better running techniques at a free RunSMART Running Clinic

OWATONNA, Minn. 04/05/2010--Nearly 75 percent of all runners are injured each year, and most running and endurance sports injuries are caused by overuse and training errors. To learn more about how to prevent running injuries and learn the right techniques for running, plan to attend the free Running Clinic Thursday, April 15 at 6:30 p.m. in the Excellence and Vision Conference Rooms (1487 and 1489) at Owatonna Hospital.

The RunSMART Running Clinic, sponsored by Sister Kenny Rehabilitation Institute – Owatonna, will cover a variety of topics:
* Shin splints vs. stress fracture, presented by Brian Bunkers, MD, Owatonna Clinic CEO
* A biomechanical look at running, presented by Jason Jacobs, physical therapist (PT) and certified athletic trainer (ATC)
* Smart strengthening to prevent running injuries, presented by Greg Lenz, PT, ATC
* Question and answers on injury management, presented by T.C. Carlyle, ATC/ATR
