St. Francis Regional Medical Center now providing behavioral health services

SHAKOPEE, Minn. 03/29/2007--Steven H. Lutzwick, MD, has joined the medical staff at St. Francis Regional Medical Center to provide behavioral health services. Dr. Lutzwick will begin seeing adult psychiatry patients on the St. Francis campus in Shakopee on April 2, 2007. Appointments can be scheduled by calling 952-403-2563.

Dr. Lutzwick most recently served as the medical director of Behavioral Health Services for the Aspen Medical Group. He attended medical school at the University of South Dakota and completed his residency at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. He is a diplomat of The American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

St. Francis Behavioral Health Services will provide outpatient psychiatric services for patients 18 years and older. Current services include assessment and medication management for most emotional and psychiatric disorders.

Commonly treated conditions include:  

  • anxiety, depression, bipolar> and other mood disorders
  • major psychiatric disorders and dementia
  • obsessive compulsive disorder and post traumatic stress disorder

Assessment and referrals for individual and couples counseling are also available.  

Dr. Lutzwick and Behavioral Health Services of St. Francis accepts most major insurance programs, Medicare, Medicaid and private payment.  

Lori Peterson, interim president at St. Francis, says that the need to integrate mental health care locally has been a high priority at St. Francis. "There has been a long-standing, community need for mental health services.
