CPR, AED and First Aid

River Falls Area Hospital (RFAH) and the River Falls Area Ambulance Service (RFAAS) are teaming up to offer more training opportunities in River Falls. With a wide range of choices, you can learn for the first time or take a refresher class. Books are not included in the price of the class, but can be purchased for $13 each.

CPR classes must be paid for before the session occurs, as we are not able to accept payment at the actual class. Please also note that the student is responsible for choosing the correct class for his/her needs. Class descriptions are listed below. We are not able to offer a refund if the participant chooses the incorrect class. Please call the Wellness Center at 426-4545 with any questions about the classes.

Heartsaver AED

This class is designed to teach the layperson how to respond to life-threatening situations where a person can no longer breathe or circulate blood on their own. You will learn how to perform CPR for all ages, how to use a public access Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) to aid in resuscitating a person who has suffered from a heart problem, and also how to effectively remove a foreign object from a person's airway when they are choking.

Heartsaver First Aid

This class is designed to teach the layperson how to effectively recognize and treat adult emergencies in the critical first minutes until emergency medical services personnel arrive. You will learn some basic First Aid skills, how to effectively treat animal and insect bites, as well as completing the curriculum for the Heartsaver AED course.

Healthcare Provider

This class is designed for persons involved in providing Basic Life Support in a healthcare setting. Persons needing this course may be doctors, nurses, emergency medical technicians, CNAs, CMAs, radiological technicians, dentists, dental assistants and related professionals.

Note: If you are not currently certified or if your certification has lapsed, you will need to take the initial class. If you are currently certified, you will need to take the refresher class.
